Description: | |||||||||||||||
American Flag 4WD road is a short road that climbs from Spring Creek Pass off of the Italian Creek 4WD road to the top of American Flag Mountain. The road starts climbing to a section where their are two ways. The left side is not as difficult, but both sides are steep.
The road will skirt the top of the sheer cliffs of American Flag Mountain. There area a few places where you will get a good view down to Italian Creek. Two of the points have spur roads that go over to the edge where you can get a dramatic picture of your vehicle at the top of the cliff.
The climb up continues at a slightly less steep grade until you reach a wide flat plateau. This is to top of the mountain.
From the parking area you can walk over to the American Flag that is flying in the wind on a small point above the cliff edge.
Heading back down the way you came will give you a view of the Italian Creek 4WD road and Spring Creek Pass.
