Description:
Castle Rock Gulch leaves FR187, the Castle Rock road to head east up Castle Rock Gulch. The road is a graded easy road as it runs up Castle Rock Gulch. After about a mile you will come to an intersection next to some interesting rocks. The road to the left is FR188.A, which goes up East Castle Rock Gulch for about a half mile to a turn around at a trail head.

Stay to the right to continue on the Castle Rock Gulch road. It will follow Castle Rock Gulch Creek up to its headwaters. The road will do a few switchbacks in the trees to climb out of the gulch before it comes to an intersection with Dry Lakes, FR189, to the left. It will head out of the forest and onto the county roads south of Hartsel. Stay right to continue on Castle Rock Gulch road. It will go another mile to a large intersection with FR187 at Black Dumps. This is know as Bassam Park Pass. A right will lead you back to where you started. To the left are the county roads south of Hartsel.
