History:
Description:
Starting from the Crooked Creek Pass end of Hat Creek road, you will cross an open meadow before entering the aspen forest after making the first of a series of switchbacks that climb onto the ridge between Spine Creek and Crooked Creek. The road will be maintained gravel, fairly wide for vehicles to pass. The road will continue along Spine Creek until it crosses the head of the creek. After another switchback you will head east again until you come to a branch of Lime Creek. The road will follow the steep ridge above Lime Creek to a saddle that separates Lime Creek from Hat Creek. At this saddle you will pass the connection with the Peter Estin Hut, FT1873.1a, which heads east. Hat Creek road will continue north.

After leaving the saddle you will head down another group of switchback to enter into the Hat Creek gulch. As you start down Hat Creek the road will pass through open areas with some forested sections. The road will turn to the northwest as it enters into the pine forest. You will head north now and drop down four more switchbacks as you drive through this heavily forested area following Hat Creek. Finally you will come out into an open meadow and drop down two more switchbacks before coming to an intersection. The left at the intersection is West Hat Creek, FR436, which heads west into the forests above Sneve Gulch. Staying to the right will continue along Hat Creek.

The road will follow Hat Creek with a bit more open forest surrounding the creek. You will drive a sharp hairpin turn as you leave Hat Creek and cross over a ridge. The road will do three more switchbacks and then bring you into Yeoman Park and the Forest Service campground. Just before crossing East Brush Creek you will pass the Brown's Loop, FT1874, trailhead and parking lot. On the other side of the creek you will intersect with the East Brush, FR415, road.
